Link 13 Sep 2 notes Donate Microscopes to Mr. Arnott's Science Class!»

diedamederschatten:

Hey guys! One of my really good friends, Tommy Arnott (who graduated from Brandeis in 2011), is currently working as an elementary school science teacher in Houston. Unfortunately, as is the case in many schools in poorer areas, the equipment is very old. This will allow him to purchase five new microscopes, and thus to provide a great opportunity to these students. Tommy has repeatedly mentioned how driven and engaged these children are, and he hopes to have his students someday compete in science fairs!

(I donated $25, and since I used the code INSPIRE, DonorsChoose doubled my donation to $50!)

Spread the word. Help my friend, and help these children!

I gave $10, and there’s only $311 to go! Help out your fellow Houstonians!

September 12, 1962 — President John F. Kennedy speaks at Rice University Stadium, Houston, Texas, concerning the nation’s efforts in space exploration. In his speech the President discusses the necessity for the United States to become an international leader in space exploration and famously states, “We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”

This is an accurate indicator of how long it’s been since I’ve gone to a show in Houston. :(
